In Episode 6 of The Seed Pod. Simran shares stories about Hinduism and nature connection as part of identity and worldview, theatre and the arts as a means for communication, and the connections between social justice and nature protection.

Nature connection can form a large part of your identity and inform your worldview. In Simran’s story she talked about growing up feeling connected to her environment through her religion, turning food scraps into compost, feeding the worms in her worm farm, and being vegetarian. She felt connected through the actions she took in her everyday life to look after nature.
You may know about pepeha/mihi in Te Reo Māori which share whakapapa/genealogy to nature through various landmarks. In pepeha, when someone introduces themselves, they refer to the mountain, waterbody and land they are connected with. This is one way to introduce worldview and identity.
We have created an activity sheet that allows us to explore the connections that may form part of our identity. This sheet includes places, landmarks, greenspaces, and critters to which we feel connected. These are things that we likely have memories of, care deeply about, and want to protect.

Choose a species/type of critter/plant/fungus to focus on and explore the questions from their perspective:
What would you see, hear, smell, taste, or feel if you were this species?
What do you think would be important to you?
What might be your job/role in nature
What are you connected to?
