Testimonials
“A real entrepreneur in the environmental sector - innovating, designing, producing, developing, and putting all this mahi into action is a skill that not many can achieve!
Sian is dedicated to sharing and celebrating nature connections - her podcast The Seed Pod. explores a diversity of people and their stories in this space. It celebrates the best qualities in people and their inherent connection with the environment. These nature connection stories have been shared internationally, with listeners outside of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Sian’s dedication to te taiao through her restoration mahi, planting, trapping, and monitoring, and ability to create spaces for rangatahi to enjoy, learn and physically be outdoors has helped thousands across Taupō, Te-Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), and Ōtautahi (Christchurch).”

“I was lucky enough to meet Sian 5 years ago, through an environmental programme called Kids Greening Taupo (KGT). Sian played a big part in shaping KGT back in 2015 as a student leader herself when it first started. She created the logo alongside a local designer and photographed events/meetings.
After 3 years of Studying at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) and leading other programmes such as Forest & Bird Youth she returned to Kids Greening Taupo as an Educational Coordinator. During this time, she worked in nature with students from highschool down to kindergarten. She helped plan many events from planting days to whānau nature days.
She is so knowledgeable in many different areas, and throughout the years she has taught me so much. Sian has become my idol; she has had so much impact on my future and as a person. She has connected me to so many opportunities throughout the years and I have followed in her footsteps and am currently completing a degree at VUW.”
- Katherine (student participant in Kids Greening Taupō when Sian was a coordinator/educator)
“Sian’s work developing The Seed Pod has been inspirational. Science communication is such a necessary bridge between the innovation in research spaces and the general public, and it can be difficult navigating ways to make it accessible and foster passion in others. Sian has also been supporting the wider community through youth leadership events, education and leadership consulting, design, and photography- all to enhance and strengthen the way we collectively provide environmental education in Aotearoa and beyond. Sian is committed to continuing to build a community that not only cherishes the environment but also acts decisively to safeguard it for future generations.”
