Addington Te Kura Taumatua | Teacher PLD
Kaiako explored freshwater ecosystems through hands-on activities, including macroinvertebrate identification, awa tohu and interactive learning experiences designed to strengthen connections with local waterways.
The workshop focused on making environmental learning accessible, adaptable and engaging, giving teachers practical approaches they could bring into their own learning environments.

Gamification of Environmental Education | PLD Workshop
Educators explored how games, storytelling and play can transform environmental concepts into engaging learning experiences.
Through activities including scavenger hunts, bullrush, river ecosystem games and bird feeding simulations, participants experienced how playful approaches can build curiosity and deepen understanding of ecological concepts.
Participants then designed their own conservation-focused games, adapting familiar childhood games into new tools for environmental learning.
