A few examples of recent events & programmes:
Forest & Bird Youth | Pest Monitoring Event
Participants explored introduced predators in Aotearoa through hands-on environmental education activities, learning how to identify pest fauna through signs such as tracks, footprints and scat.
The session combined science, creativity and play, with participants creating tracking tunnels and exploring pest monitoring techniques.

Speaking 4 the Planet | Ocean Learning Workshops
Students explored marine environmental challenges through inquiry-based activities focused on overfishing, pollution and the impacts these issues have on ocean ecosystems.
Using interactive resources, including a new noise pollution activity, students investigated environmental problems, shared ideas and explored actions they could take to protect our oceans.
The workshops sparked curiosity and encouraged students to continue exploring environmental issues through art, English and the Speaking 4 the Planet competition.
Climate Action Campus | School Programmes
Through my role as Learning Advisor at Climate Action Campus Ōtautahi, I support schools to explore environmental learning through hands-on experiences, place-based activities and creative approaches.
Programmes utilise resources developed through The Seed Pod, alongside the unique opportunities of the Climate Action Campus site, to help ākonga connect with nature, build scientific skills and explore their role as kaitiaki.
Sessions are designed around the learners, the local environment and the learning goals of each group, creating meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, observation and connection.
Biodiversity Exploration
When wet weather changed the plans for Waimairi School, nature came indoors.
Students explored leaf litter, mulch and soil to discover the incredible biodiversity living beneath our feet. Through close observation and scientific drawing, they investigated springtails, centipedes, millipedes, worms and beetles while developing their observation and identification skills.
The day also included pest-themed playdough creations, lizard hotel building and bird song investigations, combining science, creativity and hands-on learning.
Awa/River Place-Based Learning
Students connect with their local awa through observation, exploration and sensory learning.
During the hīkoi, ākonga use their senses to notice and describe the environment around them, practising species identification and exploring how to communicate observations. Students challenge themselves to describe the differences between species, sort tohu/signs for healthy and unhealthy river systems, and investigate macroinvertebrates.
