Kai Compost

The designs below were created in-kind (FOC) to show our support for the hard mahi/work that Kaitlyn Lamb is doing through Kai Compost & Ikigai Urban Farm.

Brand Purpose: Kai Compost helps workplaces, schools and homes overcome barriers that prevent them from composting on-site. They are stopping food and garden ‘waste’ from going to landfills, and diverting them to be recycled into compost, to heal the soil and grow kai.

Brand Purpose: Ikigai is a 30 square metre space at Rochester & Rutherford Hall at the University of Canterbury. The area was unused and overgrown and was going to be turned into a carpark. After a year’s work, it is now a māra kai vegetable garden, slowly evolving into a food forest. It is also an education hub for students, especially around waste, with the goal of composting all of the food scraps generated from the hall in the garden to feed the food forest.

The kai (food) grown is for the students and staff at the hall to eat. They grow kai using organic methods and have a goal to make organic kai more accessible to the community.
