Garden Reflections: Weeding

As I crouch next to this big pile of garden 'waste' I feel very accomplished. Sometimes, a picture can paint 1000 words, but oftentimes, photos on social media don't capture our reality. My reality on this day was me wanting to get outside for my mental health. I wanted to feel productive by weeding and being out in our garden connecting in the sunshine

This weeding took me 3hrs to complete whilst juggling caring for our pēpi. Thankfully, after lots of feeding and walking around the garden for over an hour, she napped in the pram, and I was able to get fully stuck in. Although it can sometimes be hard to get outside, the benefits far outweigh the challenge for me. After this mahi/work I felt satisfied, proud, and tired in the best way.

I miss getting out into nature for work every day, especially the physical challenge of weeding and restoration efforts... but I enjoy our new, slower paced normal that now gives me time to observe and connect with nature on a deeper level
